Dust, dust, and more dust!

Dust, dust and more dust! Race number two of the Gravity Canterbury Summer Series heads down the tight and technical Pedofile Alley, awesome weather once again meant that condition were super dusty, super loose and super hot, and super dusty. Did I mention it was a bit dusty? Racing was mega fast and that meant there were some sweet rags all over the track, including Rupert 'Stingray' Chapman's excellent rag/failed recovery at the bottom.

Check out the video, pics and results from Round Two,

James Rennie leads two other riders down the fast, rough and rutted 'flow' section just after the halfway mark.

Race Coverage by Tom Cuthbert - Shred-NZ-Media

Watch out for South Island champs next week and the 3rd and Final Race of the Gravity Canterbury series on the 20th of November. Next weekend is the unofficial New Zealand 'South Island' champs, expecting 150+ riders down in Dunedin. Running on an all new track built for next year's nationals rounds, it should be a great weekend. I'll be there covering the race as well as a photographer friend of mine.

Keep Shredding!

Dont know bout Australia but here in New Zealand most bike shops just stock the popular brands: specialized, giant, scott, I know there is more but in general they are the best bang for buck here. its such a small market and we have such a small population bike shops would never make any money bringing in all the bikes under the sun. But it would be cool to see some variety out on the trails here i agree.

Just realized I made a mistake, the first photo, it's actually James Rennie leading, not Nathan Rankin. My bad. Hopefully mods will be able to change it.

Seems like 25% of Austrailian/NZ bikers own Giant Glorys.

In australia, I would say it's 60% Glorys, 10% Kona, 10% Norco, 20% Real DH bikes

flag SHARK555  (Nov 4, 2010 at 10:12)
cause people cant afford those other dh brands, so you have to go with the mass brands

flag hoolydooly (Nov 4, 2010 at 21:50)
what are you guys on about. waldon83 is 100% right. every man and his bloody dog has a glory.

flag tom-cuthbert (Nov 4, 2010 at 21:58)
Because they're affordable, well specced, and do exactly the same job as any other 12k DH rig. And with the new ones being that much lighter than the old model, they're right up there with the Performance of Intense/Santa Cruz etc.

flag sam264 (Nov 5, 2010 at 6:41)
hoolydooly - everyone might have one, but that doesn't mean it's not a 'real dh bike'

flag hoolydooly (Nov 5, 2010 at 18:54)
I never said it wasn't. look at the thing im rolling on in my pics. i have overtaken people that are riding glorys on that and i wouldn't call it a "real DH bike". they are very decent bikes, im just saying its annoying that every one has one. a little bit of verity at a race weekend would be nice...

flag sean-dh (Nov 6, 2010 at 11:16)
Ohh right glories arent "real DH" and everyone has one which makes them bad? Wouldnt you think because many buy them its because theyre good?

DID YOU NOT JUST READ MY ABOVE COMMENT!?!?!?!?!? if you didn't then please read the one before mine first. and just to make it easy it was written by sam264 ^.^

No i don't think they are bad bikes, they are well made nice bikes. i don't like the fact the everybody rides them.

Sorry about that, im tired, I have my School Certificate exams tomorrow and the Aria Awards consisted of 6 bands!!
